David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Thursday 7th May 2015

The David Tennant Treat 4 Today is a look at the BBC television drama The Chatterley Affair which first aired in the UK on 20th March 2006.

Written by Andrew Davies and directed by James Hawes, The Chatterley Affair is an account of the trial surrounding the publication of the novel Lady Chatterley's Lover in 1960.

The trial was held under the Obscene Publications Act to establish whether the the novel Lady Chatterley's Lover, which was written by DH Lawrence, should have been banned.

David Tennant played the role of sociologist and academic Richard Hoggart. Hoggart was called upon as an expert witness in the original trial. David actually spent one day on set to film his part.

Paul Hoggart (Richard Hoggart's son) was on set when filming took place and in an article in The Times he remarked that David had captured his father's speech and accent very well from the video footage that was at hand.

Below is a video from the David Tennant section of the drama.
